JobTread is a well-liked job costing and project system for builders, remodelers and specialty contractors [2] who want detailed budgets, cost codes and a deep QuickBooks sync. Remodelr runs the same job, from walkthrough to final payment — job costing, crew, schedule and client updates included — for teams of one to twenty, and starts from an estimate written off the walkthrough instead of a cost catalog you build first.
Written by Josh Shelton, founder of Remodelr and a remodeler for 20 years. So yes, I'm biased — which is why every claim about JobTread below links to where it came from. Checked October 2026.

JobTread's five- and twenty-person figures are worked out from its published per-user rates on monthly billing; JobTread doesn't quote those totals itself. Annual billing is cheaper on both.
JobTread estimates come from a cost catalog and budget templates you build: items, assemblies, formulas and markups. [4] Reviewers rate it highly, and a common complaint is the learning curve to set all that up. [12]
Remodelr writes the estimate from the walkthrough and learns your rates from what you correct. You don't build the catalog first; it builds itself from jobs you were going to quote anyway.
JobTread is built around the budget: cost codes, budget against actual, and a deep accounting sync. [14] [10]
Remodelr covers the same ground for a remodeler — job costing against the estimate, build plan, schedule, daily log, change orders, draw schedule and online payments — without a cost-code setup first. Receipts, crew hours and sub invoices go in from the phone, and you see what's left in the budget and the projected profit while the job is still running.
On your own, Remodelr is about half the price. At five people JobTread is a little cheaper, and its free field and vendor users can make it cheaper still. At twenty, Remodelr comes in lower. [1]
Yes. JobTread lists AI estimating that drafts budgets among its built-in AI tools, and an AI Connector that works through your own ChatGPT or Claude account. [5] [6] The difference is where pricing comes from: Remodelr keeps every rate you correct and starts the next estimate from it.
Neither has one in Google Play. JobTread runs as a web app you add to your home screen [11]; Remodelr runs in any phone's browser, and has a native iPhone app.
Yes. Your estimates, invoices and the rates Rate Capture built export any time, subscribed or not.
