Remodelr vs Handoff

Both write the estimate for you. The difference is what happens after you fix it.

Handoff is an AI estimating and project management tool [10] for contractors across many trades, with supplier pricing built in. Remodelr is built only for residential remodelers, and keeps every correction you make so the next estimate starts at your number.

Written by Josh Shelton, founder of Remodelr and a remodeler for 20 years. So yes, I'm biased — which is why every claim about Handoff below links to where it came from. Checked October 2026.

The short answer

Pick Handoff if…

  • You're a two-person shop — Handoff's entry plan covers two users for $149.
  • You want supplier catalog pricing (Home Depot, Lowe's), or plan takeoffs on its top plan.
  • You work across trades, not only remodeling, or need an Android app.
  • You want client financing offered through the software (Pro and up).

Pick Remodelr if…

  • You want your corrections kept automatically, not pushed into a catalog by hand.
  • You run allowances and want client selection sheets with the overage turned into a change order.
  • You want month to month on every plan, with no 12-month commitment.
  • You're on your own and want the lower monthly price, with a 14-day trial.

Where they differ most

Learning your prices: automatic vs. by hand

Handoff now prices from your own catalog first, and you can push an edited line back into that catalog. [4] [5] That's a real improvement over pricing from averages alone.

Remodelr doesn't ask you to maintain a catalog. Every rate you change is recorded with the kind of work, the scale and your zip code, along with whether the client accepted the price. The next estimate starts there without you doing anything extra.

Allowances and selections

Allowance overages are where remodelers quietly lose money. Remodelr sends the client a selection sheet, shows the overage against each allowance the day they enter it, and turns it into a change order they sign.

I couldn't find selections or allowances on Handoff's site. If they've added it since October 2026, this page will be updated.

Contracts and price

Handoff's Pro and Scale plans need a 12-month commitment; Flex can be monthly. [1] Every Remodelr plan is month to month.

For a two-person shop Handoff is cheaper: Flex covers two users at $149, and Remodelr's Team plan is $297. [1] On your own, Remodelr is $52 a month less.

Where Handoff is stronger

Supplier pricing from Home Depot and Lowe's, plan takeoffs on its top plan, Android apps, client financing, and a much larger user base. [1] [3] [8]

Questions people ask

Does Handoff learn from my edits?

You can push an edited line into your catalog so later estimates use it. [5] Remodelr records every correction on its own, with no catalog to update.

Which is more accurate?

One of reviewers' most common complaints about Handoff has been pricing that didn't match their costs, though those reviews date from the first half of 2025, before its custom catalogs shipped. [9] The honest test for either is the same: run a job you've already priced and compare.

Can my clients pay online?

Both take card and bank payments from invoices. Handoff's processing rates vary by plan. [6] Remodelr payments run through Stripe and you can pass the card fee on where your state allows.
